Hypothermia is part of the so-called "triad of death" alongside major blood loss: cooling impairs the blood's ability to clot, which worsens or reopens bleeding and significantly reduces a casualty's chances of survival. That's why preventing hypothermia isn't an optional step in prehospital care — it's mandatory, and it matters even in warm weather.
The ARES Cocoon is made from the same Cordura 900D fabric as ARES soft tactical stretchers, combining passive and active heat protection in one ready-to-use kit — an isothermal blanket and 2 chemical heat packs. Unlike a thin single-layer emergency (space) blanket, the cocoon's size (224×120 cm) allows the casualty's entire body to be wrapped snugly, and the blanket's dark green outer side won't give away the rescuer's position with sun glare.
6 handles around the perimeter let the casualty be carried by a team, just like with ARES tactical stretchers.
